Friday 9th Sept saw the annual York minster Stoneyard Open Day. As well as chance to see the work in the stoneyard, and speak with the masons, there was a rare opportunity for a group visit the Mason’s Loft; which is above the passageway to the Chapter House, in the minster. On the floor of the Mason’s loft can be seen the plaster of Paris tracings that illustrates the procedure of medieval mason craft.
